Melina Smith is native to (was born and raised in) New Jersey. She is in her second year as a film and video student at Drexel University. She enjoys envisioning and creating projects, and is excited to join the film industry. She has a special interest in documentary production, particularly those with subjects she is passionate about. In fact, her most recent project is a documentary centered on the loving bond between a mother and her adopted son. Melina is also interested in cutting trailers and music videos, which correlates with her love for music. Her favorite song is Kings and Queens, by 30 Seconds to Mars. It shares the message of following your dreams and persevering no matter what, values that Melina strongly believes in. Another great passion of hers is soccer. To her, it is the world’s game, and the beautiful game, and there are few things that she enjoys more than playing soccer. Melina loves being a part of a team, as well as being a mentor to younger players. Soccer has played a large part in her life, and playing sports has taught her a lot more about life than anything else. Her teamwork skills have definitely carried over into her film career, and she knows that these tools will be indispensable to her for the rest of her professional life.
