Indonesian Future Leaders
Iman grew up in a family of six children. Even with so many kids, his parents still found time for him and despite financial difficulties, always encouraged Iman to continue his schooling to the highest level and dream as big as he wanted. Today, Iman considers his parents to be his inspirations for success. Unfortunately, this was not the case for many of the young people in his community. Iman noticed that many of the children received little to no attention from their parents and he began to see a correlation between the lack of parental attention and poor academic performance. To remedy the situation, and to fulfill his own desire to make the world a better place, Iman founded "Indonesian Future Leaders (IFL)," which provides opportunities for young people to contribute to constructive social change. Touting 4,008 members, 128 active volunteers, and 32 staff members, IFL focuses on encouraging volunteer activism in the interest of fulfilling the United Nations Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in the fields of education and youth/child rights, among other projects. IFL now serves as a prominent platform for young people to develop their ideas and approach others with new projects that will benefit the community at large and provides support among peers and the inspiration to succeed. Iman has managed to form a family even bigger than his own.
