"Spread the Peace"

Anum believes "it does not take a lot of money to make a difference, just a small group with a lot of passion." While in high school, she motivated youth to take action and responsibility for what happens in the world through "Spread the Peace," a student peace club committed to raising awareness about global problems and advocating for policy change and social responsibility around the world. This group worked to educate themselves and others about the root causes of conflict, thereby looking for realistic solutions to global problems. Through various fundraisers, public awareness events and workshops, she has raised money for the Common Ground Organization, which helps people find affordable housing opportunities, and Free the Children, which initiates school-building projects around the world. Anum hopes to expand her efforts to help more children in developing nations and wants to educate and unite the youth from the United States with youth around the world for the common goal of peace.
