Emmy Award-winning Danny Schechter is a television producer and independent filmmaker who also writes and speaks about media issues. He directed the "We Are Family" documentary, an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival. He is the Executive Editor of MediaChannel.org, the world's largest online media issues network, and a Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Globalvision, a New York-based television and film production company now in its 20th year, where he directed 30 documentaries and produced 156 editions of the award-winning series South Africa and co-produced 62 weeks of Rights & Wrongs: The TV Magazine of Human Rights, which was seen worldwide for four years. Schechter was a prize-winning Producer with CNN and ABC's 20/20, reported from 51 countries, and lectured at many schools and universities. He was producer of "Sun City," the star-studded anti-apartheid music video and directed five documentaries on Nelson Mandela. He was an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. Schechter's writing has appeared in leading newspapers and magazines including the The Nation, Newsday, Boston Globe, Columbia Journalism Review, Media Studies Journal, Detroit Free Press, Village Voice, Tikkun, Z, and many others.
